What is Motoring Assistance Breakdown Cover and how does it work?

Breakdown Cover is there to assist when your vehicle suffers a mechanical or electrical fault, meaning you can no longer drive it safely. With Motoring Assistance we will send a service van to attempt a roadside repair, or a recovery truck to get you and your vehicle off the side of the road to a place of safety, onward destination or garage.

What does our Breakdown Cover include?

At Motoring Assistance we allow customers to build their Breakdown Cover package to suit their specific needs and budget. Features like Home Start, Nationwide Recovery, Misfuel Assistance and Onward Travel can be selected to make sure you are suitably covered. As standard we provide Local Recovery, Accident assistance and all memberships have Unlimited Callouts.

How is Motoring Assistance different from other breakdown providers?

Unlike traditional breakdown cover companies, we use a large existing network of fully-qualified, third-party Recovery and Service Van operators from across the whole country. This means that no matter where you break down in the UK, we’ll have a provider nearby. This reduces the time customers have to wait at the roadside for their assistance to arrive, while also supporting local businesses.

Do you offer nationwide Breakdown Cover?

Yes - Motoring Assistance offers breakdown cover across the whole of the UK and Northern Ireland, and if you select Nationwide Recovery then there are no mileage limitations on the recovery - whereas some alternative providers will only recover you to a place of safety or the nearest garage.

How do I get help if my car breaks down?

If your car breaks down simply call us on 0330 113 2433. Our lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - and one of our friendly UK-based operators will be ready to assist you in the event of a breakdown.

What should I do if I break down on the motorway?

If your vehicle breaks down on the motorway, turn on your hazard lights and safely pull over to the hard shoulder. You should prioritise the safety of you, your passengers and other road users. Once you are on the hard shoulder, bring your car to a stop and turn off the engine. If possible, leave your vehicle in first gear and angle your front wheels away from the carriageway. As soon as safely possible, ensure you and all your passengers exit the vehicle and climb over the motorway barrier, before calling your breakdown cover provider or the emergency services.
